This exhibition is a tribute to my favorite athletes of all time.
Staffan "Faxi" Olsson. (Sweden)
Date of birth: March 26, 1964
In Iceland, handball is the national sport. When the Icelandic national team is playing, probably 90% of the nation watches. But I think handball is only popular in Iceland, and maybe Eastern Europe. Staffan Olsson, or Faxi as he was called, was in the legendary Swedish team that always won the Icelandic one. I saw him play once with the Swedish team in the 1995 Handball Worldcup, which was in Iceland. I even got his autograph. My friend Jói once told me it would be great to see handball if all the players would have to wear cloaks, since they are always running and jumping. Staffan is the one that got closest to that, because of his really long hair.
I didn’t find any videos of Faxi, but he’s still amazing.
